Lilydale District Progress Association (LDPA)
Representing and helping to build the Lilydale community since 1968.
Our history
Although records of a progress association in Lilydale date back to the early 1900s, the Lilydale District Progress Association (LDPA) was formally established in October 1968 following a community meeting.
Its original goal was simple:
“To promote the progress and improvement of the Association’s area.”
Early priorities included fundamental issues such as drainage and sewerage for Lilydale — concerns that still shape our work today.
Today, the LDPA remains the only representative community body advocating for the betterment of the entire Lilydale District and working to ensure a better quality of life for all residents.
Our role in the community
The LDPA is run by a voluntary committee that meets monthly to oversee a range of community-focused initiatives, including:
- Managing the monthly Lilydale Village Market;
- Producing The Lilydale Progressive (since 1980);
- Organising annual events, such as: the Lilydale Christmas Carols Concert, the Winter Solstice Lantern Walk and other seasonal community activities;
- Managing this website;
- Engaging in local, state, and federal government forums; and
- Advocating for improved services, infrastructure, and community projects.
