Lilydale Landcare – Ragwort Raid

Ragwort is a serious, officially declared weed in Tasmania, and is poisonous to stock, particularly cattle and horses. Ragwort is a biennial or perennial herb, reproducing from crowns, roots, and seeds.

During the annual Ragwort Raid, coordinated by Tamar NRM, volunteers patrol roads in their own vehicles, safely stopping and hand-pulling or grubbing with a mattock any plants seen along the roadsides and bagging them. A briefing is provided beforehand so that the event is done safely.

If you want to help remove this weed from the Lilydale area, meet at the Lilydale Memorial Hall on Saturday 17th January at 9.00am.

Bags, gloves, and mattocks are provided, but please wear sturdy footwear and bring some water.
