Providence Vineyard

Tasmania’s oldest established vineyard.

Nestled in the cleavage of Mount Arthur and Mount Brown, a spectacular backdrop for the north facing slopes of grey and chocolate clay/loan soils of Providence.

The vines were first planted here in 1956 and they remain to this day, making it the birthplace of the modern Tasmanian Wine Industry and the oldest vineyard in the state. Providence hosts the oldest Chardonnay vines in Australia and the original Pinot Noir and Riesling Vines, the oldest in Tasmania.

Providence grows, makes and bottles wines at the Lalla Rd vineyard and winery.  Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon wines are made and bottled in limited quantities under three labels. The focus and unwavering commitment is to make wines that have an energy, an elegance and that have longevity which demonstrates the essence of our North facing site at Lilydale, the Providence terroir.

Tasting and tours are by appointment only. Each private wine tasting and tour begins with a walk through the historic vineyards, where we unfold the diverse soils and intimate appellation, before proceeding into the winery, where you will taste our wines. Contact Rusty on 0478 297 969.
